Fair question! Yeti is, indeed, a bit overpriced due to its brand popularity, but they do their job damn well! Yeti coolers are one of the most durable ones on the market and provide excellent ice retention properties and bulletproof insulation. However, if you’re not ready to empty your savings on a cooler, there are plenty of cheaper options.

Well, most of the backpack coolers are designed with special materials to be waterproof and leak-resistant. The only one I would be careful with is an AO Cooler, the one I tried leaked all the way through.

Ice packs are denser than ice. You can expect them to provide more cooling power per unit area.
